Staal has had bums on his line since he's been here. He had Larose as one of his wingers for a long time. Larose is a 4th liner. Period. He's been paired with 2nd & 3rd liners on his line. If you put crud with Crosby, other teams will hone in him and destroy him

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! Rutherford has finally woke up!!
I had officially refused to be a Canes fan while Maurice was coach.
Sounds like the Canes will be worth watching again!!!

At first blush, I thought the Cane's had an interesting and fast lineup this year, but it only took a few games to see that Ponikarovsky is a big hunk of nothing, Pitkanen, nothing but a role player for shootouts, and Kaberle - not sure what he was doing out there, definitely not playing any defense. Essentially the Canes began the year with two goalies and Gleason on defense with no other full time defenders.

Stahl fails to orchestrate the offense, he lacks anyone to set him up and he fails to properly set up his team mates. Stahl fails to adjust his game to the personnel Carolina has - he is supposed to be the team captain. He really has no business being either a captain or a centerman if he can't lead and direct the troops. Stahl is basically a one dimensional scorer - the Canes really need to hunt for a superstar or two to take over this team - what they got now is no better than an average junior hockey league team with few skilled players and no team spark plug.

Unless big changes in personnel occur, this group will take a long time to learn how to play in the NHL, and given lackluster effort, may never get it.

Yes Staal is having bad year so far. The problem is the Canes right now has no true leader or nobody performing like a leader. Maurice just didn't get anyone to step up. Hopefully their will be someone that steps up soon to be the leader.

I hate to think that their could be a major hall of player changes next if the situation does not improve

Staal's over rated! Maybe Kirk will drop the "C" from his jersey & hold it for someone who is a real "LEADER"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check out Eric's stats. Team worst in +/- but highest in shots taken and 11 points in 25 games. Doesn't look like they are getting much in return for what they're paying him. Canes should have unloaded both him and Maurice, but they wouldn't get much for Staal the way he's playing.
